» Website Changes Underway

Hello fellow DIBSians! We have begun to merge the Project DIBS website with the Reef Stewardship Foundation website. This exciting merger should lead to more discussion opportunities and an easier to navigate website. We may experience slowdowns or website downtime late at night, which we will try to minimize.

We are happy to announce that we have partnered with MOFIB on a joint breeder challenge for Sexy shrimp, look for more details in the Sexy shrimp Breeder Challenge forum.

I would like to welcome our latest supporter:

Sustainable Aquatics

I would like to thank Lisa Carberry and Sustainable Aquatics for a generous donation of four captive bred Banggai Cardinalfish. They will hopefully form our first breeding pair (two breeding pairs if we are really lucky) as we work to establish broodstock for conservation priority species.

The fish just arrived this morning and the bags are currently floating in the main system. I am about to go downstairs and start... [Read More]

Tropical Storm Edouard paying a visit
Aug 04, 2008 - 1:07 PM - by BrianPlankis
Hey all,

It looks like we have a fairly good chance of getting hit by Tropical Storm Edouard.

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/grap...large#contents

Right where the center is "supposed" to make landfall is just a few miles south of our house.

Considering we lose power when thunderstorms go through, I might be off-line for a couple of days until power is restored.

Went and bought water and baby food today, we are all stocked up and are planning on hunkering down at home tomorrow. The bad part should be... [Read More]

Project DIBS changing names and refining focus
Aug 01, 2008 - 8:33 AM - by BrianPlankis
Hey all,

As we work to integrate the Project DIBS website into the Reef Stewardship Foundation website, we have decided to change the name of Project DIBS.

The new name for Project DIBS is Reef Stewardship Aquaculture, we will be slowly transitioning to this new name over the next month or so. Several possibilities for a new name were selected and then tested for recognition and response from dozens of people. The Reef Stewardship Aquaculture name tested the best, so here we are today.

It is not just changing a name though, it also reflects a refinement in the focus of Project DIBS. While we will still support hobbyists in any way we can on any species... [Read More]

Breeding roundtable podcast with DIBS and MOFIB
Jul 06, 2008 - 5:31 PM - by BrianPlankis
Hey all,

I think I forgot to post this, but I was invited to participate in a breeding roundtable podcast on the 120 gallons podcast. It was a very interesting experience and it was great to chat with the great minds involved:

120 gallons podcast: Episode 19 - Breeding roundtable with Frank Marini, Matt Pedersen, John Lauth and Brian Plankis.
