im going to tear down my tank tomorrow and catch out all the peppermint shrimp.. they are eating everything.. i noticed 1 egg mass disappearing yesterday

now its completely gone, and now they're attacking the other one.. i guess it took them a few days to find the eggmass

Toan,

Really sorry to hear the peppermint shrimp eat the DIBS Turbo egg masses too.

Have you tried luring the shrimp into a large net or container with a small piece of shrimp or frozen food? That might save you tearing down the tank. The DIBS Turbos should continue to breed frequently if you want to try a less drastic measure.

well heres what it really boils down to.. are they necessary for my tank.. they are in the fact that they lay fry frequently, so i've decided to try and do this

build a sub tank that will share the same water as the main system that way i can still get the frys to feed the corals and what not

i've wanted to tear down the tank anyways, im not happy with some of the rock work

That really bites, like Ron said the best place for peppermint shrimp is on a Ritz cracker. Do you happen to know which species the peppermints are?

This is exactly something I've been contemplating for awhile. I was thinking either peppermint shrimp or emerald crabs. Both reproduce regularly, and could supply an almost stedy stream of food for corals and fish. The crab larvae appear to be a bit meatier though.

i only have 2 emeralds in my tank, so i havent been able to see any spawning with those guys or mating for that matter, they're always on the opposite ends of the tank

maybe they're both males? lmao

At one point in time I had atleast 10 emeralds in a mixed reef display, and they would regularly spawn.
